Dear Friends,

I believe animals have been talking to humans for as long as we have been on this earth. The problem is...most of us don’t listen. We don’t know that we can or, more likely, don't realize that what we think we're hearing or "getting" is actually coming from our beloved animal friends. Whether they reside in our homes, stables, aquariums, sanctuaries, zoos or in the wild, they are communicating with us.

I believe that as we grow older and more reliant on upon the spoken word we forget that we can communicate with them. This explains why children tend to be highly tuned-in to animals. In fact, my very first memory was when I was four years old. I was taking care of a beautiful, but very sick, German Shepherd puppy. My father, a veterinarian, had brought him home over the weekend so he could keep an eye on him.

My dad knew he would surely die if left alone for any length of time without proper fluids, medications and attention. He had parvovirus and was so sick when he arrived at the animal hospital that he was not expected to live. When he came into our home we started calling him Blue Eyes.

All I did for three straight days was hold that puppy and love him. I was actually trying to will him back to health. I sent him mental pictures of him being healed, whole and healthy. And it worked! That little puppy decided to fight for his life when supported by the love of a friend. He recovered fully and was returned to his very grateful family. I believe it is in our hearts to want to help not just sick and dying creatures, but all creatures. This natural desire is what I had tapped into as a little girl and have never forgotten.

As an adult, whenever I think about that childhood experience, I realize that the bond we share with animals, through communication, can be so intense that it can heal creatures many would say are beyond healing. That is powerful.

This natural desire and ability can do other things as well. It can allow people and animals to communicate, negotiate, educate one another, laugh together, grow together, experience the transition of death with dignity and strengthen any relationship.

It is an amazing experience to feel the powerful connection we share with animals. It brings me great joy to facilitate that connection for others and also to help you learn to communicate with animals through my workshops.

Blessings,

Maleah
